Update: BTW, an app currently available that lets you AirPlay your Mac sells for $10 :)

It's just more populist to be seen as beating on the top company right now in order to try and explain their huge profits. But I can understand if Apple was the only company involved in these what we call, unfair practices and generating huge amounts of profits. Then yes, they are perhaps using an unfair advantage. But other companies are using these factories too and not generating as much profit. So the reasons for profits lie elsewhere. And the blame goes around.

Not surprising that Apple would embrace an open standard because it needs to gain market share in an industry where it's not a dominant player. Pretty textbook stuff, no pun intended, if you ask me.

She does bark but not for as long as the note says, maybe for 15-20 minutes maximum and that too not every day (only if another dog lingers around our fence). And nope, we have a closed fence. The HOA law is sufficiently vague - Your dog shall not make an unreasonable amount of noise. How the heck are we going to decide what is unreasonable?

Unfortunately, all we own as a gaming platform is a Wii. Hulu says it doesn't have AirPlay or an Apple TV app (I asked) coz of "content licensing issues" but they have an PS3 app which more people own? *scratches head*

If you have Hulu Plus and a gaming console (like PS3), you can directly play shows on TV via Hulu Plus app on PS3. No airplay required.

What sort of ruckus are they talking about? If it's barking, they may have a point, but she will do it indoors too. Otherwise, as long as you have an invisible fence, I don't see what the problem is. What IS that HOA rule anyway?

Yup, having a kid definitely fills up your time. Our TV habits never involved keeping it on as background noise although we went thru the HGTV and Travel Channel phase. But the flexibility of watching it at your convenience without paying through your nose works much better.

Our TV watching post Riti has become even lesser than it used to be. Doesn't help that I don't follow any TV at all, and desi TV is more like chatter in bkground while you work. We used to keep the TV on in evenings previously, now with Riti constantly turning towards TV, we've started limited that too. My friends have successfully managed to be TV free in front of their kids for last couple of years... hopefully we can continute too. Best of luck!

I don't begrudge them for thinking they're being disturbed by the dog but definitely don't prefer the way they chose to express that displeasure. Plus, the passive-aggressive tone by suggesting they feel sad for the dog is what made me angry more. If they had come over to talk to us, we in fact would've felt more guilty to placate them.
